AtomOS 11.01.01 Firmware Release Notes
Shinobi II
Installation Instructions
Atomos recommends that your Shinobi II is connected to mains power via a USB-C power adapter (minimum 10W output power) before installing the update. Alternatively, a fully charged NP-F battery will work just as well.
It is critical that your Shinobi II does not lose power during the firmware upgrade process.
- Extract the firmware ZIP file provided by Atomos.
- Copy all .BIN files included in the ZIP archive onto the root directory of an SD Card (FAT32 and NTFS file systems are supported).
- Insert the SD Card with the update files into the Shinobi II’s SD Card slot.
- Power on your Shinobi II with a short press of the power button.
- The Atomos logo will appear, and after a few seconds, the firmware update will begin automatically with the progress indicated below.
- When the firmware update is complete, the Shinobi II will prompt you to restart the device. Before you restart, please wait for a few seconds to give the Shinobi II some extra time to complete the update.
- Power off the Shinobi II by holding down the power button, and boot it up again shortly after.
- When the Shinobi II has restarted, go to the Main menu, and select the Info tab. In there, verify that the version number matches the firmware you wanted to install.
Note: Once firmware 11.01.01 is successfully installed on your Shinobi, we strongly recommend updating your camera firmware to the latest version provided on the camera manufacturer's website. This is crucial for camera control to work reliably on the Shinobi II.

Bug Fixes & Improvements
AtomOS 11.01.01 is a hotfix update meant to address bugs discovered in the first week after the Shinobi II's launch.
- When starting the internal camera recording via the cameras record button, the red record indicator of the Shinobi II now gets displayed even when the monitor isn't in Camera Control mode.
- Resolved an issue that caused the internal camera recording to stop, when switching from Camera Control mode to Monitor mode on the Shinobi II whilst recording.
- Resolved an issue where the Shinobi II's record trigger button becomes unavailable to select after switching from Camera Control mode to Monitor mode, when the monitor is connected to Panasonic cameras.
- Removed the grey Cam Overlay button in the top left of the screen when the Shinobi II is connected to a Sony mirrorless camera. Turning on the camera LCD overlays through this button is only possible when using a Z CAM E2 camera in combination with the Shinobi II, so now it's hidden when using it with cameras from other manufacturers.
Known Limitations to be resolved in future releases
- Embedded HDMI Timecode from Sony cameras such as the FX3 and FX6 might not be displayed correctly in the Shinobi II's TC Display window.
